KAMPALA – Pay TV service provider, MultiChoice Uganda is set to announce massive subscription rate cuts for DSTV and GOtv subscribers as competition war enters the pay TV industry, a leaked e-mail indicated on Monday.
The Pay TV, in a major price shift will now offer the DSTV Premium Bouquet at UGX 219,000 from 280,000, DSTV Compact Plus will now be at UGX 129,000 from 180,000, DSTV Compact will be paid for UGX 79,000 from UGX 115,000 while DSTV family is now at UGX 49,000 from the current UGX 60,000.
For GOtv customers on GOtv plus will pay 26000 from 28000 while other packages such as GOtv Max, GOtv Value, GOtv lite packages (monthly, quarterly and annually) have not been changed.

Efforts to speak to Multichoice Uganda Managing Director, Hassan Saleh proved futile as he was not responding to his calls but this website understands that DSTV is also dropping prices in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Malawi, a move that believed to be informed by tough market conditions in these countries.
