KAMPALA – Mr Albert Ngambeki has resigned as MultiChoice Uganda marketing manager hardly seven months after being appointed to the job.
Mr Nga, as he is popularly called, was appointed to the position on January 22 following the exit of Phoebe Nakabazzi who resigned her duties in the same position.
But on Wednesday, August 7, he announced to colleagues that he was stepping down.
“Dear colleagues, it is with a little pinch of sadness that I write this farewell message but at the same time with great joy and pleasure that I am flipping a page into the next part of my career journey,” Mr Nga wrote in an internal email seen by this website.
“I am proud to have worked with Multichoice and the association I have had with DStv and GOtv will last a life time. Working here was a great pleasure and my decision to resign was taken after careful thought and deep consideration. One of the most important things in life’s journey is to know when to start as well as know when to stop. This I am confident has been the best timing for me amidst all the developments that have surrounded my work space in the last 7-8 months,” he added.
It is not immediately clear why Mr Nga has left the job. However, sources inside MultiChoice intimated to this website that his hand was forced by the new Managing Director, Hassan Saleh.
MultiChoice Uganda last week announced the appointment of Mr Saleh as the new Managing Director in Uganda effective 1 August 2019. Mr Nga and Mr Saleh are said to have had bad blood at Coca Cola where the two first met.
Nga has previously worked for East African Breweries Ltd and Coca Cola, among other firms. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bugema University (Uganda) and a Master’s Degree in International Business Administration from ESLSCA Business School (France).
