
KAMPALA – The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has on Thursday August 8, equipped it’s staff in customer service skills, by offering comprehensive training on handling costumer needs.
The one-day training at at Imperial Golf View Hotel in Entebbe, is aimed at reminding Aviation staff of what they have to do and what to consider while doing their work.
The General Manager UCAA, Emmanuel Birungi said that this was a great opportunity to for the government agency to host such an important training that brings together all Entebbe International Airport stakeholders.
He added that the training would ensure that the airport customers would get a lasting customer care experience.
Mr. Birungi said: “The Entebbe International Airport would not exist without customers, so the fact that it has customers whose number is growing steadily each year, I therefore emphasize the importance of customer services training.”
The Aviation boss also noted that since the customers need faster and quick services, they must be attended to urgently to make them feel royal.
“Whenever you treat international customers in a welcoming way, they will bring other potential clients to our country hence boosting the touring sector of our country.” He recommended.
UCAA’s Public Relations Manager, Vianney Luggya said that “When you do a de-service to customers, they don’t blame you but instead it destroys the Airport’s reputation”.
Mr. Luggya confirmed that this was not the first and neither was it the last time to conduct such training ; it is going to be continuously done in order to maintain a conducive customer care environment in every department so as to attract more customers.
Mr. Birungi also informed the Aviation staff that since the number of customers is increasing each year, the government is now expanding and upgrading airport facilities in order to meet the travellers’ expectations and to be able to identify their needs in order to make improvements.
In his speech Dr. Tom Wasswa the UCAA Marketing Officer said “the customer is the most important person in our premises so we are not doing them a favor by serving them well. But instead they are doing us a favour to come for our services.”
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority is a government agency that is responsible for the management of flights and other aviation operations in Uganda.
The agency was privately owned as Civil Aviation Authority until the government annexed it in August, 2019 to become the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
