
KAMPALA —The makers of Kayoola EVS Electric Buses have explained the bus qualities and publicly announcing that the locally assembled cars are already providing select shuttle services.
In a release to journalists on Friday, the company also gave out the bus details including the making, capacity among others.
“The Kayoola EVS Bus has on-board Wi-Fi to ensure the travelers stay connected, USB charging ports to enable charging of traveler’s devices and display boards for timely and accurate information dissemination,” says the company.
The release adds that each Bus has an operating cost per KM of UGX 320 as compared to a Diesel Bus Equivalent with Cost per KM of UGX 1,670.
This, according to commentators is a better energy efficiency on the backdrop of enhanced environmental stewardship.

Other details include the battery life of the Kayoola EVS electric bus which is up to 3,000 Charge cycles (900,000km) compared to 200,000 km of typical diesel engines.
On the making, the floor of the Kayoola EVS is made out of Bamboo, the interior mainly plastics and aluminum with a steel superstructure and body panels.
“Kiira Motors Corporation is already taking orders for Buses and immediate need can be address by KMC working with Luweero Industries Limited to produce Eight (8) buses per Month
before thoperationalization of the Kiira Vehicle Plant in Jinja,” the says the company.
President Yoweri Museveni recently said that the establishment of the Kiira Vehicle Plant will bolster import substitution and technology
transfer.
