Uganda is a rich and diverse tourism destination with national game parks, the source of the Nile, green countryside, and cultural and historical sites. The country ranks high among every tourist’s dream destination, yet many of these tourism offerings remain unknown in some parts of the world like India in Asia.
During his first visit to Uganda this month, Mr. Ashu Gupta, Senior Manager of GX India said, “In India, we don’t know that Uganda has such lakes, high and low terrains, please promote the country. I really love it,” he said.
Gupta added, “Uganda is indeed the Pearl of Africa! It is a hidden gem that should be exposed to the rest of the world to encourage tourists to visit. I love it and urge you that our partnership doesn’t end here, but promotes tourism as well,”
He articulated that the entrance of GX India in Uganda marks a big milestone for the company because it gives it a chance to tour Uganda while expanding the market for its products and services through partners like Roke Telkom.
GX India, a global market-leading Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) company, focused on the Manufacturing and Development of FTTH products recently signed a partnership with Roke Telkom, a home-grown internet service, to enhance the internet experience in Uganda. It will boost not just the telecom industry, e business but the tourism industry as well, as expressed by Gupta.
Michael Mukasa, the Chief Commercial Officer at, Roke Telkom emphasized the need for Uganda to leverage the power of technology and partnerships, to open up to the rest of the world.
Mukasa said, “By deploying fast and reliable FTTH internet across Uganda, we are enabling our tourism and hospitality sector to open up to the rest of the world. Fast internet can be leveraged for cost-effective destination marketing and e-commerce services like booking hotels and flights as well as ride-hailing, which are a big boost to tourism and e-commerce.”
GX India’s call for the promotion of Uganda’s tourism in Asia closely follows the launch of the first direct Entebbe-Mumbai flight in 40 years, by Uganda Airlines, the national carrier. This is yet another opportunity to strengthen tourism, investment and trade relations between Uganda and India.
