KAMPALA – The Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Shaban Galabuzi, has encouraged Muslims to adopt a culture of saving and investing to uplift their communities. He emphasized the impact of collective financial discipline, citing the potential for substantial investments through consistent savings at local mosques.
“The power of saving and investing cannot be overstated. When we come together as a community and prioritize financial discipline, we can achieve great things,” said Sheikh Galabuzi. “I urge all Muslims to make saving and investing a priority, not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year.”
The Supreme Mufti’s remarks coincided with Diamond Trust Bank’s (DTB) donation of essential food items to support Iftar celebrations at Kibuli Mosque. He acknowledged DTB’s strong foundation, built over 50 years in Uganda and 78 years in East Africa.
“We appreciate DTB’s commitment to supporting Muslim communities during Ramadan. Their donation of food items will go a long way in helping us provide for those in need,” said Sheikh Galabuzi.
A DTB delegation, led by Head of Retail Banking, Mr. Andrew Musanje, underscored the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and community support beyond the Ramadhan period.
“At DTB, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. Our donation of food items is just one way we are showing our support for Muslim communities during Ramadan,” said Mr. Musanje. “We are committed to continuing our support beyond Ramadan, through our various corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
DTB donated food items to Muslim communities through faith leadership at Kibuli Grand Mosque and the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at Old Kampala.
At Old Kampala Mosque, Secretary General Hon. Abbas Sekyanzi appreciated DTB’s continued support and commitment to extending financial services across the country.
“We commend DTB for their strong commitment to supporting Muslim communities. Their donation of food items is a testament to their dedication to giving back,” said Hon. Sekyanzi. “We also appreciate DTB’s role as a trusted financial partner for the Muslim community. Their financial services have been instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.”
Hon. Sekyanzi noted that the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and DTB share a strong and longstanding partnership that extends beyond banking.
“The UMSC and DTB have a partnership that is built on trust and mutual respect. We work together to promote financial inclusion and support economic growth in Muslim communities,” said Hon. Sekyanzi.
DTB, a leading financial institution, is committed to fostering sustainable growth and financial inclusion across Uganda. Through corporate social responsibility initiatives, DTB empowers communities by promoting financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and social welfare programs.
“As a bank, we recognize the importance of giving back to the communities we serve. Our corporate social responsibility initiatives are designed to make a positive impact on the lives of Ugandans,” said Mr. Musanje. “We are committed to continuing our support for Muslim communities and promoting financial inclusion across Uganda.”
