
KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni will officiate at the forthcoming Rwenzori Investment Expo (RIEX), organizers have confirmed.
In a statement, organizers also confirmed President Museveni will deliver a keynote address at the two-day Rwenzori Investment Expo 2020 that will be hosted at the Mountains of the Moon University, in Western Uganda.
Themed “Investments for Local Economic Development, two-day Investment Expo will take place at The Mountains of the Moon University Lake Saaka Campus Fort-Portal, 30th -31st Jan 202 and is organized by Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Office of the President, in partnership with Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).
The expo will according to organizers provide a platform for engaging with local government’s investment community to enhance value addition, create more jobs and incomes for households as well as strengthening private sector performance in the region, the OWC said in a statement.
The event whose objectives are said to be in line with the government’s overall development agenda and the Vision 2040 among other things is expected to result in jobs and poverty reduction in the region.
The Rwenzori Expo that is also designed to foster interaction, networking, sharing and learning, as well as investor ‘matchmaking’ opportunities will unearth potential investment opportunities in the region’s key sectors including; Agriculture-related opportunities Agro-industry Tourism Minerals and Energy Infrastructure (Railway, Air, Roads/Bridges) Environment, Gender, ICT & Innovations.
Some of the speakers include Matia Kasaija, Minister of Finance, Butime Tom, Minister of Tourism Wildlife & Antiquities; King Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV; King Hesley Charles Mumbere, The Omunisiga of Rwenzuru Kingdom; Amos Wekesa, Great Safari’s among others.
The Rwenzori Investment Expo (RIEX) is the third symposia series under the theme “Investment for Local Economic Development” organized by Operation Wealth Creation. The first was Uganda-China investment symposia and the
West Nile symposium was the second in the series.
The expo will host 3,000 people, comprising the public and private sector, experts, entrepreneurs, innovators, students, youth and government representatives.
