
Dragon Boat festival 2018 launched at Arirang hotel yesterday was graced by the Minister of State for Tourism, Hon Kiwanda Suubi and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Zheng ZhuQiang,
Other special guests at the launch included, Ministers of sports and tourism from the Buganda kingdom government, mayors of Entebbe and Rubaga; the distinguished hosts of the boat Festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival will be held on Saturday 16th June at Entebbe Zoo and training of teams will take place at the Kabaka’s lake in Rubaga.

This festival is aimed at boosting friendship between the peoples of the two countries but also most importantly it is aimed at boosting tourism, promoting culture and also the water boat sport in Uganda.
The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival) is a traditional holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese poet Qu Yuan (Chu Yuan) who committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month in 278 BC on hearing the Qin State had conquered the capital of Chu.
Following a wrap-up meeting held in November, 2017, chaired by Hon Prof: Ezra Suruma, the senior presidential adviser on finance and planning received the delegation from Huhan province, China at Serena hotel Kampala
The Huhan delegation discussed agriculture (value addition), infrastructural development and tourism potential of Uganda. The head of delegation said that for any country to develop, it must have good infrastructure. This would be the link to every other sectors of development.
