KAMPALA: Ivan Kawuma alias Qute Kaye was Friday evening taken for rehabilitation at an undisclosed place after some of his family members and friends saying that the Jinkese hit maker has been battling a mental problem for years.
Capt.Mike Mukula, patron Uganda Musicians Association, is one of the many Ugandans who was taken aback after yesterday’s events when the one time music sweetheart was caught stealing car parts in Busega, a Kampala Surburb.
‘This young talented man, Qute Kaye was unemployed and desperate, as patron Uganda Musicians Association, ‘ve asked the association chairman to see how we help him.’ stated Capt Mike Mukula who is also the NRM chairperson, Eastern region.
Speaking to congregants last night at Rubaga Miracle Centre at the ongoing 77DOGS, Pastor Robert Kayanja said Qute Kaye shouldn’t be judged saying maybe he had to go through something like that to fully draw back to God.
Sources close to Rubaga Miracle Centre board say last year after Kaye gave his life to Christ at their church, he was given a new car which he later sold, paid his rent for 3 months and paid a monthly fee of 800k but later fell out with him after citing that he wasn’t in his right state of mind.
Qute Kaye yesterday accepted theft charges after being arrested while stealing car parts in Busega but asked for forgiveness, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Oweyesigire.
