KAMPALA- Ugandan artistes Edrisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo and Bebe Cool real name Moses Ssali have applauded Quiin Abenakyo for standing as Miss World at the 68th pageant.
Abenakyo made a record when she made it to the top 30 finalists of the Miss World 2018 competition, something that no Miss Uganda has ever accomplished. The pageant happened in Sanya, China.
Through their different social media platforms, the artistes have asked Ugandans to vote for their own daughter so Uganda flag can be raised high.
“United for a good cause. Am just done voting, Have You??? Our Miss Uganda Quinn Abenakyo, made it to the #missworld grand finale and needs your vote. Let’s show her some love? Voting deadline is 8th December,” posted 2015 BET Award winner.
In the same way, the 2018 East African AFRIMA Award winner congratulated Abenakyo for making it to the top 30 finalists for Miss World 2018, and to be first Uganda in the entire history of Miss World.
“I would love to congratulate Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo for making it to the top 30 finalists for Miss World 2018, a first for Uganda in the entire history of Miss World. Thank you for joining some of us in efforts to show the world that Uganda is full of beauty, talent and brains among others. I applaud you for the attention you are giving to the plight of young girls suffering with early pregnancies. This is true demonstration that each one of us as Ugandans has it within their power to contribute to the wellbeing of our country using the means available to them. My contribution is through music and yours is through beauty with a purpose,” posted Gagamel boss.
The self-proclaimed Big size also tasked all Ugandans that criticize gov’t for what it has failed to do to play their roles as citizens and be productive for their nation, just like him and Abenakyo who aim at raising Uganda flag high.
Bebe Cool also quoted former American President John F Kennedy who once said that “Ask not what your country will do for you, but what you can do for your country”.
“Instead of criticising government for the things that are not going well within our communities, can we all in our respective disciplines ask what we can do for our motherland Uganda. Can we account for our contribution to our country before pointing fingers at who hasn’t done what for us. Miss Quinn Abenakyo, we are looking forward to your crowning as Miss World at the finale by God’s grace. I too am playing my part, but then again, I AM BEBE COOL. To pick a direct quote from former American President John F Kennedy’s inaugural address in 1961, “Ask not what your country will do for you, but what you can do for your country”.
Both artistes have concerts soon. Bebe Cool has a concert dubbed ‘Tondek ekiwatule mutima gwa zabu’ slated December 26, 2018, whereas Kenzo is celebrating 10 years in music industry early next year, January 4 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
