
KAMPALA – The Uganda Museum has decided to take its milk exhibition across the country in the next three months.
The exhibition, which was first staged successfully at the Uganda Museum in 2017, will go around the country on inside a mobile van and will showcase milk business, culture and politics.
Dubbed the ‘Milk Mobile Museum’, the educative project will be launched on Monday, February 25, at the Uganda Museum in Kamwokya, Kampala. Earlier in the day, there will be a workshop on milk business, culture and politics from 10 am.

According to Amos Mugume, the project coordinator, the ‘Milk Mobile Museum’ will go around the country for the next three months, starting with eastern Uganda. He adds it will also feature at the International Wildlife Day which will be celebrated in Arua come March 3.
The mobile museum is a project promoted by the Uganda National Museum in conjunction with the Ethnographic Museum of Zurich and Igongo Cultural Institute.
Uganda’s first Milk exhibition was launched on 22 September 2017 and it ran three months at the Uganda Museum and Igongo Cultural Institute in Mbarara. The exhibition under the theme ‘Drink Deeply! Milk Exhibition’.

According to Mr Mugume, the museum exhibition is about milk as culture and business in Uganda and Switzerland. It brings out insights on history, traditions and milk products, indigenous knowledge systems of the communities and process of making milk products as well as displays the status of milk in Uganda today, the global present, gender roles, environmental, political economy as well as global perspectives.
On Monday morning, the launch of the Milk Mobile Museum will be preceded by a workshop discussing milk business, politics and culture.
