
KAMPALA – The controversial Miss Curvy beauty pageant came to a close with Belinda Nansasi crowned as the overall winner in a star-studded Grand finale at Imperial Royale Hotel Friday, April 26.
The hotly contested beauty pageant that attracted a lot of ridicule within public lashing from all corners citing that it was irrelevant.
Nansasi braved the heat beating other 24 contestants to the crown at the Grand Finale that featured cultural performances and live performances from artistes like Phina Masanyalaze, among others.

Ms. Annie Mungoma, the CEO Miss Curvy Uganda said;
“It is good to see a child grow, this is something that was a laughing subject when we launched it everyone thought they will drive it in their direction and I said time tells the truth and this is the time. We have walked a journey with so many people small and big despite all the negative energy and scolds day in day out and I really appreciate their support.”
Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, the Chief guest and Government chip whip said;
“Let’s this work as a lesson and please before you make comments, first understand the genesis. We have witnessed discipline of the highest order, have seen couples enjoying, different categories of people and this is part of the culture”.

She added;
“I am a supporter and one person who likes challenges and this why you saw what happened in the house and the reason am here is because I was invited and congratulate all the ladies, judges and those that spared time to come through.
“When Annie came to me with her vision of appreciating Plus ladies I embraced it though it attracted a lot of criticism from the media and some people but assured her that we shall make it happen,” said Hon. Kiwanda Suubi Godfrey, State Minister for Tourism.
He continued;
“Tourism begins with the people and this why we are coming up with initiatives to promote the this and we shall be with them in the various projects under operation wealth creation, entrepreneurship, environmental campaigns among others”.
The Winner of Miss Curvy Uganda outsmarted the rest and walked away with a Grand Jeep Cherokee all branded, received a full Scholarship from Victoria University, a full board ticket to Turkey sponsored by Victory School of Beauty and will represent Uganda at the Miss Curvy Competitions Africa in Nigeria.
