KAMPALA-President Yoweri Museveni has urged Ugandan to live meaningful and responsible lifestyles in order to upgrade their socio economic development in all fields.
He made these remarks at the Bugolobi Church of Resurrection, at a wedding ceremony of Mr Isaac Rubega and Allen Atuhaire on weekend.
“To survive in Uganda is a challenge,” Mr Museveni told the congregation.
“People do not decisively know what to do. That is why they incidentally die, mostly being diverted by things that are meaningless – an unscrupulous life, consuming alcohol and sedating themselves,” he asserted.
The President also congratulated the newly weds upon their celebration of the highly sacred sacrament of holy martrimony.
Mr Museveni said that he attended the young couple’s wedding because Maj. Atuhaire Allen, the bride, had shown exemplary management skills in her assignments, a trait which will come in handy in her marriage and family life.
“I have worked with Allen for a long time. She knows how to survive in life,” he noted.
In the same breath, Rev. Steven Bamutungire, in his sermon, challenged people to realise that marriage is a mission of submission between a man and woman.
“Choosing to love one another is a covenant of God.” Rev. Bamutungire noted.
The President also posed for a group photo with the newly-weds alongside their parents the other celebrants in attendance before departing the venue.
