KAMPALA – The fourth edition of the Ekyooto Cultural and food festival will resume this week on Friday up to Sunday, August 9- 11, at the Uganda Museum.
This year’s edition is aptly themed “diverse cultures celebrating each other.” The annual event is in full gear for the revellers to mingle as they enjoy various delicacies and experience different cultures from Uganda and beyond.
Speaking to PML Daily, Mr.Moses Bakora the Director of the cultural festival revealed that they are focusing on food and cultures from different regions.
“Food is one aspect of culture that brings us all together irrespective of our cultural beliefs and backgrounds. We are having more than five International communities through their embassies coming to exhibit their traditional cuisines,” Bakora Said.
“The Ethiopians will be showcasing their unique njera, Indians, Kenyans, Turkish, Iranians their cuisines, fashion, cultural performances, and folksongs local acts from Buganda, Busoga, Karimojong, Acholi, Alur, Batwa, Batooro, Ankole, Bagisu and other for the three fun-filled days at the festival,” he added.
Apart from the food and exhibitions, there will be traditional games such as “Kwepena” , “Dulu,” tag of war, schools and cultural quiz, dance competitions, a fireplace and storytelling.
Other activities will include; Poetry, music, kids play area and all this will cost UGX 5,000 for Adults and children will enter free of charge.
