
KAMPALA – The Uganda Film Festival (UFF) which aims at awarding outstanding film creations in the country, was held at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) Nakawa on Friday, November 29.
The award gala was the culminating event of a week-long festival that was marked by several activities including film screenings, film exhibition market, workshops, and training among others.
Lailah was the biggest winner in the evening. A movie directed by Richard Mulindwa.
The movie scooped five awards including Best Director, People Choice Award, Best Post Production, Best Feature Film and Best Actor in a Feature Film.
UFF is Uganda’s equivalent of the “Oscars”. It’s glitz and glamour, it’s about film and Uganda’s local content.
As UCC had that noted the Award Prizes this year were Bigger, Bolder and Bette. Winners said that UCC didn’t disappoint as they nagged millions for their works.

Best Sound Design – Bed OF thorns

It also involves the composition or manipulation of audio or sound to create a desired effect or mood. Special Award/Life Achievement Award – To Philip Luswata

People Choice Award – LAILAH
This award involves audience participation in the selection of a winner through a voting system. The category of film that qualifies for the viewer’s choice is the feature film following nomination by the expert jury. The popular appeal was an important criterion in selecting the winning film in this category.
