The music industry in Uganda is growing by leaps and bounds, and this is because of the undisputed creativity, hard work matched with the talent of upcoming artists and the existing ones to keep afloat to their listeners’ taste.
In 2019, there has been an array of songs and artists that have dominated the radar with a catalog of bangers that have become staples in people’s homes.
PML Daily’s Abraham MUTALYEBWA has come up with a list of songs and artists that have stuck on the public’s lips regardless of age and size and status.
- Parte after Parte – Big Trill

Without a doubt, this is one of the most known songs in Uganda and Africa that was released by Big Trill. It is amazing how God does his thing because rappers have never hogged in the limelight like this fine dude who has been on the scene, but boom! He finally hit the bull’s eye with his banger. Even stars like WizKid, Jidenna among others endorsed it and confirmed to the world that this is a gold mine for him.
Surprisingly, the lyrics are not known but the chorus is an anthem of sorts.
- Gutujja – Rema & B2C
This is arguably the best collaboration of the year done by Rema and the B2C Boys comprised of Julio, Mr. Lee and Bobby Lash. The hit love song gained massive airplay on various Media and it is still pushing on.
It has been an anthem on most wedding parties, introductions, baby showers name them as long as there is love flying in the air.
- Chikibombe – Levixone
This gospel song has defied odds and has been used as a ringtone for both Christians and the rest.
It was released in the middle of the year but slowly and steadily, the banger is played all over in bars, churches, at concerts and other places one can think of.
No wonder Levixone was signed to Universal records one of the biggest on the globe.
Congratulations to Levixone and all the best!!!!!!
- Musheshe – Spice Diana & Ray G
The word ‘Musheshe’ comes from a local dialect meaning people from the West in particular the Banyankore (Bahima).
This brought a new definition on the scene with a fusion of Kiganda and Kinyankore culture.
Most of the people from the West embraced the song and boom, the next thing we knew, it had taken Kampala by storm.
Needless to add, this has proved that one can shine regardless of their language and culture. It truly stamped Ray G and Spice Diana as great artists with new craft.
- Wire Wire – Bebe cool
Done by Bebe cool, the self-proclaimed Big Size. The banger has gained massive airplay and it is doing well on the radar.
He has released many songs this year but this one has stood out among the lot.
- Do Dat – John Blaq
He has been a fast-rising artist and received a positive reception from Ugandans and others in the diaspora.
The song is evidence that he is in an overdrive mood and earned himself a position in the industry.
This explains why his maiden concert at Freedom City in Namasuba last month was a success.
All the best for this youngster!!
- E’Bango Baliwanika – Rickman
Released by Rickman a Ugandan artist based in Sweden, this song was among bangers of 2019.
The term “bango twaliwanika” made its way to the slung dictionary in Uganda. All this was because of his twist and creativity.
- Squeeze – Voltage Music & Fille
This soft Jam compiled by Voltage Music and Fille is excellent and has steadfastly grown and performed well.
It proved that the duo is still holding the bull by the horn and are not anywhere from sinking in the music ruts.
- Boom Party – Cindy
There was a lot of social media fights in 2019 between Cindy and Sheeba but indeed this yielded results for this great tune.
The singer known for her gyrating dance moves and solid Performances has been in the mix for a long time and this is a no brainer.
10. Sikikukweka – Daddy Andre
Besides being a good music producer and brains behind many songs that are hitting the charts, Daddy Andre has shown that he is not only good by working with others but also done well in his music career.
His Sikikukweka song has been an anthem for a while and it continues to woow Ugandans.
Let us wait for more and more come next year.
- Sunday – Toniks & Dee Jay Slick Stuart/Roja
Toniks went into hibernation for a while and has been fading off the scene but this year has been good for the RnB singer who came into limelight for his song ‘beera nange’.
Bravo man for that come back hit!!!
- Bambi – Fresh Kid
When you talk about the Industry and you leave out this young talented kid, it is a typical disservice. Patrick Senyonyo alias Fresh Kid is indeed one of the freshest exports the country has got.
Thank God! The public accepted him and his tune deserves a place.
Next year, he will be polishing his game and more formidable stuff is expected.
- Omu Bwati – Fik Fameica & Pato Ranking
After all that ridicule from the public and social media, this did not deter the young talented Fik Fameika to keep focused on his career. He went on and has been doing well off late, for sure his song ‘Omu Bwati’ found its way among the best songs of 2019.
- Kasukari Keeko – Bobi Wine
Despite the political wave that is surrounding Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and him actively participating in the latter.
He has not produced many songs as back then, but the few he made you cannot be left out.
- Semyekozo – Eddy Kenzo
After falling out with the mother of his youngest daughter and fellow artiste-Rema, Eddy Kenzo composed the ‘Semyekozo’ song late this year and it has really climaxed the year as one of those hits taking rounds.
