
KAMPALA – Radio genius James Onen alias Fatboy has made his return in the radio industry after close to two months of leaving Sanyu FM, one of the oldest FM Stations in Uganda where he had spent two decades.
Fatboy was a dominant voice on morning Primetime FM Radio. He had been hosting the ‘Sanyu Breakfast’ show Monday through Friday from 6 to 10 am and the ‘Alive and Kicking’ show on Saturdays from 6 to 10am.
Many of his fans have been missing his voice ever since then but he is back to grace the airwaves through an online Radio called Reckless Radio.
Reckless Radio is a Ugandan-based digital radio station created by ‘Fatboy’ himself and it aims at serving the needs of a growing class of media consumers who are looking for high quality radio content.
The legend will be doing the ‘The Fat Boy’ show that will air Monday to Friday 6 to 10am.
“The Fatboy Show” is a top quality four-hour daily entertainment radio show hosted by James ‘Fatboy’ Onen, veteran radio presenter who for over two decades has been a dominant voice on morning prime time FM radio.
In the show, Fatboy is joined by Olive, a soft-spoken intellectual with a background in news, and the attitude of a soldier.
Former Sanyu FM staff, Crystal Newman, will also debut on Reckless Radio every Monday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm with the Groove Crystal show.
Fat Boy had been one of the biggest hosts on Sanyu FM famed for his controversial style on radio.
For the 21 years he graced the airwaves, Fatboy worked with other well-known presenters like Crystal Newman and Seanice Kacungira; while these left over time, FatBoy had remained.
He has since been replaced by popular comedian Patrick Idiringi commonly known as Salvado.
Fatboy studied at the American School in Japan between 1981 to 1986 before returning to Uganda in 1986 where he studied at Kampala Parents Primary and Kings College Buddo.
The 45 year old holds a bachelor of commerce in accounts that he pursued while in India from 1995 through 1998, he also holds a diploma in Philosophy from the University of London.
