KAMPALA – Mityana Municipality legislator Hon Francis Zaake has lived up to his promise after he gifted local musician Chris Evans Kaweesi with what he called an MP handshake on Tuesday at his home in Mityaana.
Zaake was appreciating the singer for his latest single dubbed Zaake which resonates with the legislator’s name.
The Zaake song bears a story of a man who promises to protect and keep his better half in all ways humanly possible, be it engaging in a fight or any other measures.
The gifting follows the legislator’s Facebook post on Monday where he heaped praises on Chris Evans’s song and asking people how he could meet with the singer so he could offer him a gift.
Zaake who posted on his official Facebook was moved by the creativity of the musician for the powerful song and beautiful message embedded there in.
“Thanks So Much Chris Evans Kaweesi for such a vibrant, deliciously powerful hit. Anyone who can help me meet this artist for an MP handshake at least?” Zaake posted.
He added; “I am actually meaning it and I wish we meet up tomorrow at my residence Mityana at 10am to 12 noon for your prepared package sir. You are such a great talent Ssebo.”
In response to the request, excited Chris Evans who at first doubted the authenticity of the post was eager to meet with the legislator and was happy that he had a fan in him.
“I am so humbled to know that one of the people I hold in very high regard, Honourable Zaake Francis Mutebi is my fan and has been following my music closely. Thank you for inviting me to your residence in Mityana, I will be there tomorrow Sir,” Kaweesi responded in a Facebook post.
Upon getting his package from Zaake, Kaweesi promised the legislator that he is already in Studio recording for him another song that will be out in less than a fortnight.
He also asked him to count on his support in the campaigns if the legislator needed him in his Mityana rallies.
This is a double bundle of joy for Kaweesi as he was also recently chosen to headline the few artists that entertained the Kabaka of Buganda on his 27th coronation ceremony in Mengo.
