KAMPALA – Social media was awash over the weekend with comments blasting bakers of the cake that was cut during the celebration marking one year since Uganda Airlines returned to Uganda.
Britam Uganda, the people that made the cake have in a statement commented on the mishap that happened during the celebrations that saw different people online trolling their efforts.
In a statement by Mr Allan Mafabi the Chief Executive Officer Britam Uganda, Britam admits they failed to live up to the expectations of the public.
“We tried baking a cake and fell flat on our faces! Some say that it is not the gift, but the thought that counts most, right? Well, we agree with a majority of you who said the cake did not do justice to this massive milestone and the occasion at hand,” he said.
In a bid to redeem itself from the misharp, the company says they have started a challenge where bakers will be asked to provide the best cake designs they feel will best suit Uganda airlines.
“We have come up with The Great Britam Bake Off Challenge. We are calling out all bakers both large and small to take part in the design of a new cake to be presented to Uganda Airlines,” the statement reads.
The statement explains that the best design will be funded to bake and personally present the cake to Uganda Airlines in addition to delivering a donation to a charity of their choice.
“The next four will also receive a contract to bake a cake for four charities within Kampala while also handing over donations.”
Bakers interested in taking part in the challenge are advised to upload their digital profile and cake design, sketch, or idea via http:bit.ly/BritamBakeOffChallenge
The deadline for submission according to the Britam CEO, is Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 5 pm.
