KAMPALA – President Museveni excited his Bazzukulu yesterday when he officially announced that he had joined Instagram, a photo and video sharing social networking platform.
The president made the announcement on his Twitter account leaving some of his followers, especially the Bazukulu excited over Jajja’s embracing of the digital era.
“Bazukulu, I am now on Instagram,” Museveni tweeted.
The 76-yearold, National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the 2021 presidential election’s Instagram account is already verified.
Much as he is not following anyone for now, he has over 9000 followers and 50 posts on his new Instagram account.
Although Museveni celebrated his birthday recently and one would probably think he would start by sharing a birthday photo of sorts, the first photo shared on the account was a campaign post on July 24 that was asking the “Bazukulu” if they are ready for the forthcoming elections.
“Abazukulu, are you ready for 2021? Because I’m bringing another rap #project2021,” he posted.
The profile page shows that Museveni shares photos about his official visits, meetings and campaigns. He also later shared a video about his birthday celebrations.
Museveni is one of the few Ugandans with a large following on social media. He has 1.9 million followers on Twitter and 794,658 likes on Facebook.
He has one of the fastest-growing profiles which lately soared due to his regular COVID-19 related tweets during the lockdown as many Ugandans would wait on his tweets to see when he would address the country again guiding about the pandemic.
With the 1.9million followers, President Yoweri Museveni has the most popular twitter profile in Uganda.
