KAMPALA – Few weeks back, Black Market Records (BMR) singer Nina Roz admitted that she was using drugs.
Her revelation came as a surprise to many, but for the few who had always been close to her, it was about the right time she confessed.
The self-proclaimed ‘Ugandan Property’ is celebrating over a month of being sober but the public was longing to find out why she had finally decided to quit.
According to the “Kyoyooyo” singer, drugs are not something people out there should play with and that it takes a lot of courage to get off the habit.
“I had to come out and talk about my drug addiction so that I can help women out there, especially those using them and I thank my management, my friends and family for standing by me through this period,” she said.
The self-styled Rose-Bud also added that she had been using drugs for three years but during that period, she was tortured mentally, physically and spiritually.
She, however, blamed all this on the influence of friends and confessed and she never knew how much it would cost her.
Nina Roz recently switched management from Sure Entertainment to Black Market Records barely seven months after joining the music label (Sure).
Under Sure Management, the ‘Anayinama’ hit maker had only managed to work on just two projects, “Kyoyoyo” and “Ntika Nkutike”.
Her switching to Black Market Records had many people questioning how the slender singer managed to join the United States based Record Label after falling out with two record labels in less than a year.
Award winning music producer and musician Daddy Andre defended the artist saying he recommended her because she is one of the most talented female musicians in Uganda.
In Black Market, Nina Roz joined Angella Katatumba, Bruno K and Daddy Andre. We wish her the best and pray she does not relapse and go through the same effects she had while doing drugs.
