KAMPALA – Social media was on Sunday awash with photos of city socialite Sheila Nadege popularly known as Don Zella kissing Tamale Mirundi Junior, the son to former presidential press secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi in a local radio studio in Kampala.
The 36-year-old mother of three posted the photos on Sunday morning with captions “If kuwoma was a person” (loosely translated as ‘If sweetness was a person’).
Social media ‘in-laws’ did not treat her with kindness and threw lots of alarming comments on her actions with a youth 13 years younger than her.
However, the 23-year-old social media commentator came out to comment on the kiss and insisting how Don Zella is merely a friend and the photo was a simple thing that was blowed out of proportion.
He said the photo is something someone can describe as a joke, referring to Don Zella’s captions since both of them are friends who hang out a lot.
“People got it out of context. I did not know that I was that powerful. I have been receiving calls from several powerful people in this country, including my father. I have not talked to him (his father) because I know he will overreact. I have to enjoy my life. I believe I’ll make so many mistakes. It’s not even about the mistake you have made but what you have learnt from it,” he said.
“I don’t want to be a photocopy of my father. There are things he believes in and I respect that because he’s a good parent but I also have my life.”
As expected, the father also while appearing on a TV show on Sunday commented on the incident revealing how he was not surprised by his son’s action.
The seasoned journalist noted that there are several successful members within his family and a few others who would shock him with such actions.
He noted that his son has interest in showbiz and it is fine as long as he does not end up ruining his reputation.
“Whom did you like him to kiss? Did you want him to kiss a goat? Has he defiled anybody? My son is in the showbiz and those are the kind of people he associates with. That one went with Bobi Wine and that’s what they do over there, he looks like the people he lives with and I cannot be surprised by what he does,” Mirundi said.
Mirundi added that he would be surprised if one of the other educated Murundis behaved in that manner, but Mirundi Junior decided to go with Bobi Wine and living a Casanova lifestyle, kissing each other among other things, are what they do in the life he (Junior) chose.
The motor-mouthed political analyst however warned that Junior is free to do whatever he wants for showbiz, but if he hears that he (Mirundi Jr) stole money, defiled a person or engaged in a fight, he will shoot him dead.
“Let him steal money, let him defile a person, let him fight, I will shoot him!” Tamale added.
