RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Mrs. Turinawe Ingrid Kamateneti and volunteers from TIK Foundation visited several primary schools in Rukungiri Municipality on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
The team spent the day interacting with young girls approaching menstruation age, addressing the challenges they face and offering words of encouragement.
“We want to ensure these girls stay in school and reach their full potential,” Mrs. Kamateneti said.
At Katwekamwe, Nyabihinga, Kashozi, and Kitazigurukwa Primary Schools, Mrs. Kamateneti emphasized the importance of obedience, respect, and faith.
“Be proud of yourselves and your communities,” she urged.
The team also held prayers for P.7 candidates, wishing them success in their upcoming exams.
Uganda’s girl child faces numerous challenges during menstruation, with many families struggling to afford sanitary towels.
At Kitazigurukwa P/S, Mrs. Kamateneti visited pupils with visual impairments and physical disabilities, encouraging them to stay in school.
“No disability should hinder your potential,” she said.
TIK Foundation donated over 1,400 sanitary towels to support the girls.
