KAMPALA– Ugandan Hollywood star, also film maker and TV producer, Nana Kagga has expressed concern over the declining performance of the Miss Uganda Beauty contest.
According to Kagga, the pageant is not as exciting as it was at its initiation in 1967 or even some years later.
The famous producer said she will help the contestants in the consequent Miss Uganda pageants through reality television series.
She said that the pageants will be televised at every step leading up to the grand finale so that the public is more involved in choosing the beauty queen who will represent the country at the world stage.
Back in the day, the Miss Uganda pageant was one of the most sought after events because it attracted many corporate sponsors and doubled as a tourism attraction and beauty show.
These beauty queens represented Uganda and participated in the world’s search for the most beautiful ladies in the Miss Universe contest.
Miss Uganda failed to conduct a contest for 2017/2018, making the 2016/2017 winner, Leah Kagesa reign for two years.
The pageant returned this year, seeing Quinn Abenakyo, 22, crowned Uganda’s beauty queen on August 10 at the Sheraton Hotel.
