MAKINDYE – Makindye based local music group, the Golden Band is said to be at the verge of breakdown after one of its prominent band members Ronald Mayinja quit the group and more threatening to leave.
The renowned band and Kadongo Kamu folk musician has left band over reasons he says are not worth mentioning in public.
Sources close to the band told PML Daily that for long the directors of the group and the members have had a series of fights as the members accused the directors of favoritism, mismanagement of funds, greed, among other issues.
Mayinja joins his fellow artist Stecia Mayanja who also left the Golden Band for cream production in September last year.
Now after decades of singing political songs Mayinja this clears the air that he could be headed for politics.
Mayinja has been popularly known for message loaded songs like ‘Tuli ku Bunkenke’ (Situation is tense), ‘Tuwalana Nguzi’ (We are against corruption), ‘Africa! Ani agula ensi’ (Africa is up for sale) and ‘Sente y’ekibi’ (evil money) among others. That is not to say he does not lyric sentimental with the odd love ballad.
Mayinja is wasting no time in making his intentions known by the voters in Gomba district that he is the man with the vision to deliver the constituency to greater heights.
