
KAMPALA – Nigerian young music star Joeboy, real name Joseph Akinfewa Donus is set to perform at Smirnoff’s “The Malembe Block Party” in Kampala this week.
The party is slated for Friday, August 16th at the Guvnor Parking Lot at a fee of 50k for ordinary and 150k VIP.
The “Baby” hitmaker will perform alongside WSTRN, a British musical group consisting of Akelle Charles, Haile and Louis Rei.
The Nigerian sensational singer is the initiatives’ most visible star, nabbing over 5 million views on the visuals for “Baby”.
Joeboy is most known for his song ‘baby’ that is just three months old.
Speaking with Konbini about how his musical journey began, Joeboy said:
“I started music as a hobby, but then I recorded a cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’. It went viral, and that was how I met Mr Eazi.”
Joeboy is one of the two Nigerians selected for Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa – created by the banku singer to turn “emerging [African] artists into global superstars.”
Joeboy was the first recipient of Mr. Eazi’s $300,000 (UGX 1,108,500,000) Empawa fund.
