
KAMPALA – Seven Ugandans have been nominated in the 7th edition of the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) that will take place in Dallas, Texas on 15th November 2020.
The awards themed ‘Destination Africa’, already have the heat on and as a number of Ugandans have been nominated in the different categories according to the list that was released on 11th September 2020.

The awards aim at celebrating the beauty and diversity of African music and the 2020 edition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held virtually in USA.
This year’s nominees list features a bundle of recognized talents but also stars a host of new talents in what seems to be a major paradigm shift on the African music scene.
The list comprises of Africa’s music honchos with proven career success like Eddy Kenzo, Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz, Aya Nakamura, Sauti Sol, Davido, Master KG, Ali Kiba, among others.

Typical of these awards, Nigeria has the biggest number of nominees followed by Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya.
The Ugandan nominees like Eddy Kenzo who are not new in these awards are already busy and have designed voting procedures for their fans which they have already shared on their social media platforms so let us get voting already so we can bring these awards home.
Ugandan icons are usually nominated in such awards but fail to bring the awards home due to the lack of voting culture of Ugandans.
Sheebah and Vinka being in the same category puts Uganda at a higher chance of scooping the Best Female East Africa accolade. Masaka Kids Africana is also a big nomination in the dance category.

· Keko – Best Female Rap Act
· Sasha Vybz – Best Video Director
