Over the weekend, the much anticipated Blankets and Wine 2024 edition went down at Lugogo Grounds to the amusement of the different revellers from all walks of life who thronged the venue.
As promised, organisers put up a two-stage (Blankets stage and Onja Onja) experience for revellers to choose where they wanted to have the fun.
The audience kept switching from one stage to the other but the Blankets stage caught more of their attention as that is where the main action was.
At about 9 pm, Joshua Baraka took to the stage and did most of his songs, while emphasising how his was a ‘Baraka Jam Session.’
After he had exhausted his songs, he did freestyles of Konshens & Romain Virgo’s We No Worry Bout Them, Shaggy’s It Wasn’t Me and Dirtsman’s Hot this year.
Later, members of the Blu3 (Cindy, Lillian and Jackie) took turns to the stage doing two solo songs each.
Before the trio took to the stage as a group, a backup artist serenaded the revellers with Iryn Namubiru’s Nkwagala Nnyo which they sang along amidst a downpour.
The Blu3 then got back to the stage in blue outfits to cement their name to the audience.
Just when the rains thought they would deter people from having fun, the numbers kept increasing each time that went by.
It was marvellous watching them do most of their songs such as Sanyu Lyange, Strong Woman, Nzijukira, Kankyakyankye, Ndayila, and paying tribute to the Late Mozey Radio by doing Where You Are.
When we thought all was done after doing Where You Are, the trio did Burn and the audience went wild when the legendary king of hip-hop, Navio joined them on stage to do his verse.
At the Onja Onja stage, Etania told revellers that they were not leaving the venue even with the downpour and she gave them a worthwhile show that kept them glued and in no mood to leave the venue.
Security at the event was well-manned. Right from the checkpoints at the entrance to the ticketing venues, there was no room left for criminality. Inside, security personnel, both in uniform and plain clothes kept making rounds to ensure all was well.
This edition brought an international and local music experience, fashion, food, family-friendly activities, and craft markets.
Revellers experienced an exciting evening on two stages that had the finest selection of local and international artists known for their electrifying performances and chart-topping sounds.
Safeboda was also on the ground to give promo discounts to the revellers who had the app on both bikes and safe cars.
Blankets and Wine is a festival focused on providing an in-city festival experience with an unforgettable music experience for music lovers of all ages.
