
ENTEBBE – The Minister for Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has on Wednesday, July 25, revealed that progress of the Regional Hospital for Paediatric Surgery in Entebbe stands at 80%, the construction is expected to be completed in December 2019.
The minister made the revelation while on the site tour of the facility with a team comprising of Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kasaija, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Diana Atwine, Entebbe Municipal Council leadership and officials from the Ministry of Health.
According to Dr Aceng, the UGX 117.9 Billion teaching hospital will provide free of charge Paediatric surgery to children aged 1 month-14 years in Uganda and neighbouring countries.
“The 72 bed capacity hospital is comprised of 3 operating theatres,6 bed Paediatric ICU, 16 bed High Dependency Unit, 50 bed ward, Outpatient department, Laboratory and blood bank, diagnostics, physiotherapy, pharmacy, ancillary services and a 40 bed capacity guest house for patients relatives,” she said.
She further appreciated the Finance Ministry and the Entebbe Municipal Council leadership for the construction of the hospital.
