The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has suspended the Isingiro district chief administrative officer, Donath Eswilu, over failure to account for Shs366 million.
The suspension follows concerns raised in the Auditor General’s report that consequently compelled the committee to go to the south western district and find remedies.
The committee started by looking into the performance of Isingiro district.
Led by Hon Regan Okumu, the committee sitting in Mbarara tasked the district CAO Eswilu to explain the whereabouts of Shs366 meant to benefit 36 youth groups in the district under the Youth Livelihood Fund which he couldn’t.
The CAO also failed to account to account for the government land titles the district owns.
When the going got tough, Eswilu decided to keep quite.
The committee resolved to suspend him until he avails the documents he was asked for.
“You are suspended until you bring these documents,” Okumu said.
