KABALE–Kabale Resident District Commissioner Darius Nandinda has vowed to block an age limit consultation rally called by Kabale Municipality MP Andrew Baryayanga.
The meeting is set to take place this Sunday at the Kabale municipal stadium. Baryayanga, an NRM leaning independent, is a renown critic of the presidential age limit bill tabled by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi. The bill seeks to remove Presidential age caps from the 1995 Constitution.
Nandinda said security officials in the district have not been informed about the planned rally and like any other residents, they are just hearing about the rally from radio announcements.
The RDC also accuses the legislator of inviting all the voters in the district to attend the rally instead of concentrating on his voters in Kabale Municipality.
But Baryayanga, however, insists that the RDC has no power to stop him from consulting his constituents as directed by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga. He also denied reports that he has not sought police permission for his planned rally.
In the Kigezi region, Hon Baryayanga together with Eng. Denis Sabiti of Rubanda West have come out openly to oppose the age limit bill.
