GULU. President Museveni has blamed Kilak South Member of Parliament Gilbert Olanya for stopping development in northern region.
Museveni said MP Olanya has always been frustrating government programmes meant to create development in northern Uganda.
The President made this statement during a radio talkshow at Mega FM in Gulu town on Wednesday in his Land amendment campaign ragarding article 26 land Act.
He ridiculed Olanya for engaging in cheap politics, which he termed as petty politics.
“Olanya is causing us blood pressure for nothing,” President Museveni said.
He said he fought in northern Uganda during the NRA rebellion, adding that he will buy land in Atiak and see what Olanya can do.
The President was responding to a letter dropped at Mega FM by MP Olanya questioning why the government is at the forefront when it comes to acquiring land for investors.
In the same letter, Olanya also asked President why foreign investors are being given priority compared to the indigenous people on land matters in the country.
Museveni said people like Olanya are bad leaders who should not be leaders in Uganda.
He also blamed Olanya for making Amuru people poor by discouraging them from giving their land to Madhavani Group of companies for sugarcane growing.
Museveni also criticized Olanya the Apaa land matter warning MP Olanya to stop disturbing the country over the issue of Apaa land lying in the border of Adjumani and Amuru.
He added that the head of state is mandated to protect the rights of people living in Apaa which has been declared to as part of Adjumani district.
