
AMURU–At least two people were between Sunday and Monday killed in separate road accidents along Gulu-Juba highway in Amuru district.
Michael Omona, 54, a resident of Wipolo village in Anaka sub-county in Nwoya district, was knocked dead by a trailer UAE 773U/UAE 784U on Gulu-Juba highway at Kati Kati village in Lacor parish in Amuru district. The incident happened at4:30pm.
Omona was on a motorcycle UEA 206B which was being ridden by his son, Kenneth Okello, 21.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa river region police spokesperson, said Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. He said the driver of the trailer, Akim Kyapa, 36, is under police custody.
Omona’s body is currently at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital pending postmortem.
Meanwhile, an unidentified woman hailing from Atiak Kal was also knocked dead by a Toyota Super Custom vehicle UBA 169O.
The accident occured on Sunday evening along Gulu-Juba highway at Atiak Kal in Atiak sub-county in Amuru district. The woman died enroute to to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor.
The yet to be identified woman was knocked together with 31-year-old, Stephen Okot who is currently nursing injuries at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor.
Okema said police will investigate the causes of accidents which are becoming common along Gulu-Juba highway.
