LUWEERO–An accident has Thursday morning occurred at a weigh bridge in Luweero district, along Kampala-Gulu highway, leaving a UPDF Lieutenant dead and three others critically injured. The early morning accident involved a Toyota Premio UAK 514U and a trailer CGO 4028AA07/CG0591AA07.
Police identified the deceased as Lt Benson Embogo. Regional Police Spokesman Paul Kangave says the Toyota Premio which the soldier was driving rammed into a trailer that was entering the weigh station.
Kangave says the trailer driver Abdu Ewada, 35, was arrested at the scene while the injured were rushed to Bombo Military Hospital for treatment.
Kangave said Lt Embogo died on the spot while Captain Bony Kaliso and L.CPL Tungirwe Gerson were among the three injured in the early morning accident. The trailer, according to an eye witnesses, was entering the weigh station.
