Ruhama County Member of Parliament William Zinkuratire Beijukye has passed on this morning, Parliament has confirmed.
Parliament director of Communication Chris Obore said the legislator died Friday night at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted.
“He has been hospitalized for the past two weeks,” Obore confirmed.
Zinkuratire becomes the fourth legislator in the 10th Parliament to pass on, following Iganga Woman MP Hailat Grace Kaudha, Toroma County MP Amodoi Cyrus Imalingat and Moroto Woman MP Annie Logiel
The MP had earlier been diagnosed with Hepatitis B, in India. However, unconfirmed reports from close family members indicate that Zinkuratire succumbed to poisoning which destroyed his internal organs.
Zinkuratire, 46, was elected Ruhama county MP in the last year’s general election on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
He replaced the First Lady Janet Museveni who held the seat in the 8th and 9th parliaments.
Obore said burial details will be communicated after discussions with family members.
