KAMPALA–The hearing of the murder case against socialite Brian Kirumira aka Bryan White has failed to kick off at Makindye Magistrates Court, following the failure by the victim to show up for the hearing.
State Prosecutor Jackline Akao informed court that the victim Victor Bitwire, who is also the only witness, is still weak and unable to attend court to testify.
Makindye Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza thus adjourned the case to March 5, 2018.
Bryan White together with his bodyguard Corporal Thomas Okoth, who is attached to Crime Intelligence headquarters, are accused of having shot Bitwire on the night of December 13, 2017 at Bryan White’s residence in the Kampala suburb of Buziga.
The two suspects were released on bail by the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s court on January 8. In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Erias Kakooza tasked the socialite not to leave the country before the case is closed.
He was then asked to pay cash bail of Shs10m and also deposit his passport with court. On the other hand, the suspects’ sureties were bonded Shs20m. The court afterwards adjourned the case to January 30, 2018 (today).
