
The hearing of the bail application for US national Paul Rogers Mathias, failed to take off after the defence lawyer Ladislous Rwakafuuzi told court that he was not ready to cross examine prosecution’s first witness, a police officer.
Presiding chief magistrate mary Kaitesi also refused to hear Mathias’ bail application and adjourned the case to March 9 and further remanded Mathias to Kigo prison .
Mathias was recently arrested from Entebbe International Airport with a firearm and bullets.
Paul Mathias who was remanded to prison last Friday on three counts including being in unlawful possession of a fiream(pistol) and 165 bullets without a valid licence today, Monday February 26, appeared before chief magistrate Mary Kaitesi for hearing of his case.
On Friday last week , Paul Rogers a resident of Mwanyi, Bwebajja in Kajjansi Town council, Wakiso District appeared before chief magistrate Mary Kaitesi and denied three charges including being in possession of a pistol and 165 bullets without a valid firearm licence.
Prosecution states that the suspects committed the offences between February 9 and March 18, 2017 while at both Entebbe International Airport and his residence in Mawanyi.

Paul was further charged with one count of physically assaulting his wife Lillian Kaitesi on the 13th/January 2018 from their home in Mawanyi there by causing her body pain and harm.

He also pleaded not guilty to this offense before Grade one magistrate Mastullah Mulondo and was consquently remanded to Kigo prison until the 2nd /March for hearing .
Paul is being represented by renowned Human rights lawyer Ladislous Rwakafuuzi.
