KAMPALA. A serial car robber is to spend 50 years in prison for murdering a special hire driver and robbing his car, the High Court in Kampala has ruled.
Court presided over by Justice Moses Kazibwe ruled that Musa Kalule, aka, Sam Yenga Amanga Blaise murdered John Bosco Zziwa in 2013, robbed his car and sold it in DR Congo.
Justice Kazibwe said basing on evidence from prosecution witnesses and his past record of twice escaping from custody twice over other car theft charges, Kalule deserved to stay out of society.
He said the 50-year sentence is punishment is to act as a deterrence to future offenders.
Court documents indicate that ion 2013, Kalule hired the deceased, who at the time was driving a car belonging to Mr Stephen Owori. Zziwa’s body was later discovered in Matugga, Wakiso District. On March 17, 2014, the deceased’s car was recovered in Arua town from one Lety Ondia, a Congolese, but bearing Congolese registration numbers. However, the Ugandan number plates were still visible on the car windows.
Police investigations revealed that Ondia had bought the car from one Abi Sabo Adia, a broker, in Ariwana DR-Congo. Adia revealed to police that he had bought the car from Kalule, who was subsequently arrested in August 2013.
