
KAMPALA – Maverick military officer Kasirye Ggwanga has been promoted to the rank of Major General enroute to retirement from the army.
UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire announced on Monday March 6, morning that President Museveni had on March 3, approved promotions of 1,300 officers including the deputy Chief of Military Intelligence Henry Isoke, who is now a Brigadier.
Charles Wacha was also promoted to Brigadier and will head the Army’s human rights desk.
According to the statement, the pompous Ggwanga, currently a presidential advisor, will retire from the army in 2018 as a two-star general.

H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the UPDF on recommendation of the Commissions Board on 3rd March 2018, approved the promotion to different ranks of 1,384 officers and militants to various ranks.

2 Brig Rwabantu to Maj Gen(Deputy General officer Commanding Reserves)
3 Col Charles Wacha to Brig(Director Human Rights )
4 Col Charles Byanyima to Brig (Commander Motorised Infantry Brigade)
5 Col Henry Isoke to Brig(Deputy CMI)
6 Col James Nambale to Brig(Adjutant General Headquarters )
7 Col Kagoro Asingura to Brig(Ministry of Defence&Veteran Affairs Legal Officer)
