Hearing of the Age-limit petition began Monday at the Mbale High Court with four out of the nine petitions filed, being dismissed.
Different petitioners withdrew their applications while others never showed up in court and were not represented despite evidence of their official stamp on court documents confirming receipt of hearing notices.
Some litigants including a one Benjamin Alipanga and PDP president Abed Bwanika said they had lost interest in pursuing their petitions because they have been over taken by events.
Two court rooms were provided for this petition which has attracted many lawyers including 20 from the Attorney General’s chambers led by deputy AG Mwesigwa Rukutana. The second room has members of the public following proceedings from a TV screen.
