
Police in Wandegeya have arrested two officers suspected to have been involved in stealing criminal samples at the Government Analytical Laboratory.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire revealed that two officers, Daniel Onyait and Nicholas Kiyahabwe were arrested over neglect of duty.
Mr Owoyesigyire said computers which were connected to genetic analyser machines that deal with criminal DNA tests were stolen from the laboratory.
The police spokesperson added that as investigations go on, police would charge the two officers.

Oweyesigire remained cagey on details but sources in the police revealed that on Sunday night, unidentified individuals broke into GAL headquarters at Wandegeya, took two central processing units and monitors , containing high profile DNA results.
The crime scene is currently sealed off, not allowing the public and GAL staff to access the lab. Those permitted to access the venue are subjected to thorough checking and one is required to present identification.
GAL is directorate under the Ministry of Internal Affairs mandated to provide specialized scientific analytical , advisory and referral services to foster administration of justice.
