
OMORO – Francis Onyango, a resident of Atede village Lapainat parish, Koro Sub-county in Omoro District on the morning of Thursday May 17 hacked his wife Betty Angeyo,30 and a 5-month-old baby before committing suicide.
Sources from the community revealed that Onyango and Angeyo had had longstanding domestic issues, often culminating in violence.
Aswa river region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrict Okema confirmed the incident and said Onyango left their home after the incident but was later found to have committed suicide at a swamp near his home in Atede village. He noted that Angeyo and the baby were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor where they have been taken for treatment.
Police have Thursday May 17 recorded two cases of suicide in Omoro district and attempted suicide in Gulu municipality.
Okema noted that one case was registered from Obwach village Game Parish Lalogi Sub County where one Nelson Kidega committed suicide under unclear circumstances.
Police in Gulu Central Police station are holding Albert Otim for trying to commit suicide after leaving a threatening letter on his door at Layibi. He was arrested from his in-laws home in Lacor Obiya west.
