Police have rescued a 19-year old girl from kidnappers, who had taken advantage of her joblessness to entice her and later ask for ransom from her family.
The girl from Kakiri, in Jinja received a phone call from a one Muhamad Mayanja alias Alideki, who had promised her a job as a shop attendant.
Mayanja reportedly He sent the girl Shs15,000 for transport to the agreed destination.
On arrival in in Nakifuma, Mukono, the suspect sent two boys to lead the victim to his house where she reportedly met him.
The victim told police that an hour later, Mayanja tied her hands and legs with sisal rope, threatening to kill her.
Armed with a knife, Mayanja reportedly raped her, and later asked that she calls her family to send a ransom of Shs10m before her release.
Upon receiving the phone call, the girl’s family informed police.
The suspect left her locked in his house, playing loud music so that her cries wouldn’t attract attention.
The unusual loud music however attracted the neighbours, who went to check on the house
By this time, the victim had maneuvered and untied herself, accessed the window and made an alarm that drew the attention of the neighbors who immediately alerted the area police.
The suspect was arrested and police also recovered the exhibits (knife and ropes) he had.
He is currently detained at Nagalama Police Station vide CRB 068/2018 on charges of kidnap and rape.
