KAMPALA: A group of youths under the political wing, Positive Youth Foundation (PYF) dubbed ‘The Alternatives’ have today stormed parliament with coffin to express their dissatisfaction with the ongoing kidnaps and murders in Uganda.
Youth activists from PYF condemned the parliament over its silence on the continued women and children kidnaps .They avow that MPs have done nothing towards curbing such cases in the country but instead enjoy salaries on useless issues.
The displeased youths pointed out that over 20 women and children have since been kidnapped and others murdered even after ransom is paid.
“Following unjustifiable kidnaps and subsequent murders of innocent women and children, we ‘The Alternative’ members have considered tasking the government to account for all these murders. We as a nation and a generation believe that the government has a lot to explain since it’s their mandate to protect us and our property. We considered matching to parliament with a coffin as symbol of these kidnaps and murders but also to remind them that we are back into the state of blood which they claim they fought,” desputed Norman Tumuhimbise, representative of the Alternatives
During the strike, two members have been arrested by the Parliamentary police and they are identified as Lutta Ferdinand and Achom Beckie.
The PYF president, Kahiigi Edmond has not yet released any official comment concerning this arrest, however David Musiri the commander of the wing land forces has promised to rescue the detained members from CPS.
