KANSANGA – Renowned businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba has said the arrest of Gen Kale Kayihura was long due and commended the President for ordering the detention of the former police chief.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Kampala International University main campus in Kansanga, Kampala, on Saturday, Basajjabalaba, who is also the institution’s proprietor, said Gen Kayihura was responsible for many crimes committed in the country under his watch as the police boss.
“Kayihura’s arrest is long overdue. Many people died in his tenure as police chief,” he said.

He added that the President, who was the chief guest at the graduation ceremony, did well to arrest Gen Kayihura.
General Kayihura, who served as police chief for 13 years, is currently held at Makindye Military Barracks and is being interrogated over several offences that the army leadership is yet to reveal.
Before his arrest early this month, he had been sacked as the police boss in March.

At the Saturday graduation ceremony, however, did not comment about Basajjabalaba’s remarks and instead chose to advise the 2,410 graduands at emulate the proprietor’s business acumen and start entrepreneurship projects.
He also urged the graduands to refrain from alcoholism if they are to become successful.
