KAMPALA-Police has rescued two children that were last week kidnapped from their home in Nakinyuguzi zone on Salama Road in Makindye.
Herman Nsubuga 8 and Christine Zalwango 5 both pupils of Mirembe Primary School Nakinyuguzi were allegedly kidnapped on June 25, from their home at 7:00p.m.
The father of the children Gordon Galiwango, told Police that a woman went to his home and pretended to be known to the family. The children’s mother then welcomed the “guest” into their home.
The kidnapper then asked to be helped with her luggage which she had left on the roadside. The unsuspecting mother then sent the two children to go and help the visitor, who had left her handbag on the chair, but the trio did not return.
On checking the contents of the bag there was only a piece of paper with a telephone contact. On calling the number, the recipient demanded shs6million in ransom for the two children to be released.
Police on receiving the information mounted a search, intensifying operations in the areas where the kidnappers were suspected to be hiding. The kidnappers succumbed to the pressure, called the father and directed him to Kulekaana, Salaama Road where the children had been abandoned.
The children were dropped off by a Boda Boda rider who immediately took off. Galiwango, on receiving the children, took them to the police from where they were taken for medical examination and the doctors confirmed they were okay.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
