
STATEHOUSE: Uganda has today received Abiy Ahmed, the Ethiopia’s prime minister ahead of a two-day state visit.
The coming of Abiy was honoured by president Museveni who welcomed him to the state house entebbe.
The two leaders are due to discuss on bilateral and regional issues of common interest.
Ethiopia Premier, Abiy is going to be the chief guest for the Heroes Day celebrations due to take place this Saturday in Kakumiro and will be awarded ‘The Pearl of Africa Grand Master’ Medal.
According to minister for the Presidency, Ms Esther Mbayo, Abiy will be decorated with the Most Excellent Order of the Pearl of Africa medal, which is the highest accolade in the country.

This medal is said to be awarded to African heads of state that have made a contribution towards the independence struggle of the continent.
Besides Abiy, on Heroes’ Day celebration, 250 more people will be awarded medals in appreciation for their contribution to peace and dignity in the country, said Mbayo.
Heroes’ Day has designated to honour those who played a major role in creating a better future for the people of Uganda across socio-economic and political spectra of the nation.
Ahmed’s visit to Uganda, upon Museveni’s invitation, marked the fourth African country that the premier has so far visited since he took office on April 2, following Djibouti, Sudan and Kenya respectively.
