
BUGIRI – Supporters of the opposition JEEMA candidate in the Bugiri Municipality parliamentary election, Asumani Basalirwa, have taken to streets of Bugiri Town in jubilation after he won by a big margin at most of the polling stations.
The newly created municipality has 28 polling stations but provisional results indicate that Basalirwa is leading at most of the polling stations, defeating FDC’s Eunice Namatende and NRM’s Francis Oketcho by a huge margin.
For example at Bugiri Nakawomba Polling station, Basalirwa got 456 votes, Namatende 121 and Okecho 75. At Bukooli Technical polling station, Basalirwa got 165, Namatende 40 and Okecho 130. At Bus Park polling station, Asumani got 230, Namatende 200 and Okecho 70.
