
KAMPALA – Eleven new members have today morning sworn in at the Makindye based General Court Martial for a term of one year in office.
Among the members whose term was renewed by the President Museveni on July 3, is court’s chairman Lt Gen Andrew Gutti.
Lt Gen. Gutti who was re-appointed for the second time will have his plate full in this new term, with the ongoing trial of Boda Boda 2010 Patron Abdallah Kitatta, Police officers that were arrested by the army, and are accused of illegally deporting Rwandan refugees and the anticipated trial of former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura.

Lt.Gen Gutti was first appointed to head the General Court Martial in May 17, 2016 replacing the late Maj Gen Levi Karuhanga.

Some of the new sworn-in members of the court are; Col Richard Tucungura who is replacing Col. Gideon Katinda as the judge advocate, Major. Henry Serugo , Capt. Teopista Opal and Capt. Paul Mugerwa among others.

Immediately after the court was fully constituted with the new members taking the oath of office in which they have vowed to remain impartial and discrete, the court started off with hearing old cases and issuing production warrants for the suspects who are on remand .
