KAMPALA – Stanley Ndawula, the editor of an online website, The Investigator, was on Sunday evening released by operatives from the Internal Security Organisation.
Ndawula was on Friday night picked from his bar on Bukoto Street and bundled into a waiting car that later disappeared.
Whereas ISO director Frank ‘Kaka’ Bagyenda had earlier said he was unaware of his arrest, Ndawula on Sunday evening confirmed that he had been in the hands of ISO at their safe house in Kyengera.
He claimed that he following his arrest, he was brought before Col Bagyenda who later ordered for his release after realizing that they had been misinformed about a certain news story that was published by one of the online news sites.
Ndawula said ISO apologized to him for the mishap before setting him free.
This is not the first time he is arrested. Ndawula was last year arrested and charged with offensive communication. According to the charge sheet signed by Mike Chibita, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ndawula was accused of publishing an article in the Investigator online alleging that Gen Kale Kayihura had resorted to killing his own police officers as a way of covering his crimes, a story which prosecution said was false.
